A Lake in the Hills man was arrested after he allegedly placed his hands around his pregnant girlfriend’s throat and mouth during an attack that was witnessed by the woman’s daughter.
Eder NMI Amaro-Reyes, 29, of the 300 block of Village Creek Drive in Lake in the Hills, was charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant or handicapped person, domestic battery causing bodily harm, domestic battery physical contact and child endangerment.
A Lake in the Hills Police Department report said that officers responded to Amaro-Reyes’s residence in the 300 block of Village Creek Drive at 10:15 p.m. Monday.
Officers were called following a report of an aggravated battery at the residence involving Amaro-Reyes and his girlfriend.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court alleges Amaro-Reyes placed his hands around the woman’s throat and mouth while laying on top of her.
The victim is eight months pregnant, the complaint said, adding that Amaro-Reyes’s actions caused bodily harm to the woman.
The woman’s young child, who was in close proximity, was placed in danger while Amaro-Reyes battered the victim, the complaint added.
It is unknown if the victim sustained serious injuries or not.
Officers arrested Amaro-Reyes approximately an hour and a half after responding to the call. He was transported to the McHenry County Jail.
A judge ordered Amaro-Reyes held on a $40,000. He was released after posting $4,000 cash, court records show.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 14.
