Two mass vaccination centers, one in McHenry and another in Crystal Lake, both have available appointments this week for the COVID-19 vaccine which is open to all McHenry County residents.

The McHenry site was opened in February and is located at a former Kmart store at 1900 North Richmond Road.

The Crystal Lake site was opened in early April and is located at the Willow Creek Community Church, 100 South Main Street. It is the county’s second mass vaccination site.

As of Monday afternoon, both centers have appointment slots available for Tuesday through Saturday.

Those who want to receive a vaccination at an MCDH-run clinic should look for open appointments by completing a questionnaire and search for open times on the state’s COVID-19 Vaccine Registration form.

Those without internet or who need assistance with booking an appointment can call MCDH’s COVID-19 Call Center at 815-334-4045 or the Illinois Department of Public Health’s vaccine scheduling hotline at 833-621-1284.

A photo ID and proof of residency or employment within McHenry County must be brought to the first dose appointment, the health department said. A photo ID and vaccination card must be brought to the second dose appointment.

There are several other places besides health department sites to receive the vaccine, health officials have said.

Those include regional hospital systems, clinics and other community partners who are administering vaccine and may reach out directly to their patients to schedule an appointment.
