A man who allegedly touched a woman’s hair and sexually harassed her at a Cary bar and then punched a man in the face was restrained by patrons before his arrest, police said.
Colin M. Ryan, 41, of the 0-100 block of Hickory Lane in Cary, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery in a public place and two counts of resisting a peace officer.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges that Ryan was at The Tracks bar, located at 108 West Main Street in Cary, early Saturday morning.
Ryan was accused of touching a woman’s hair while making a comment about how she was sexually attractive, the complaint said.
Ryan then punched the bystander on the left side of his face with a closed fist and a fight ensued, the complaint said.
Cary Deputy Police Chief Scott Naydenoff said that bar patrons restrained the man and physically escorted him out of the establishment.
Officers with the Cary Police Department responded and Ryan ran away from them.
Officers arrested the man around 2:10 a.m. Saturday near his home in the 0-100 block of Hickory Lane in Cary.
A booking photo of Ryan showed several abrasions to his face. It is unclear how he sustained them.
Ryan was transported to the McHenry County Jail where he was ordered held on a $20,000 bond. He was released from jail after posting $2,000 cash.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 11.
