Firefighters had to extricate two people and a dog who were trapped in a vehicle that rolled over and struck a tree near Crystal Lake on Tuesday.

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 4:05 p.m. Tuesday to Walkup Road and Anvil Road in unincorporated Crystal Lake for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.

McHenry County Sheriff Sgt. Aimee Knop said the crash involved a single vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

Sheriff’s deputies learned the Chevrolet was traveling southbound on Walkup Road when it struck the curb for unknown reasons.

Knop said that the vehicle rolled over and struck a tree, landing upright off the roadway in the tree line.

Firefighters extricated two victims and a small dog from the vehicle.

The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as Jessica Stefely, 23, of McHenry, was transported to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry with minor injuries.

An adult female passenger was also transported to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry with minor injuries.

Stefely was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, Knop said.
