The occupants of a car escaped without any injuries after a forklift, which was being transported by a truck, rolled over onto the car Thursday in Libertyville.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 2:30 p.m. Thursday to Route 45 and Route 137 in unincorporated Libertyville for a report of a vehicle crash.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found an accident involving a flatbed truck that was transporting a forklift, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Chief of Staff Anthony Vega.
The truck was traveling northbound on Route 45 just north of Route 137 when the forklift fell off the flatbed, Vega said.
The forklift rolled over onto its side and crushed a blue Nissan sedan that was traveling in the left lane.
It is unclear what caused the forklift to fall off the truck.
No one sustained any injuries in the accident, Vega said. Northbound Route 45 was closed for approximately an hour and a half.
Heavy equipment from Ernie’s Wrecker Service was called to the scene to assist in uprighting the forklift back onto the flatbed truck.
A tow truck was called to the scene to tow the Nissan sedan.
