A woman inside a convenience store in Woodstock was seriously injured and flown to the hospital after she was struck by a car that crashed through the building Friday evening.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and Woodstock Police Department responded around 6:58 p.m. Friday to the Woodstock Food Mart, 1013 North Route 47 in Woodstock.
Dispatchers received a call of a single-vehicle crash with injuries and a report of a person trapped, according to the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District.
Firefighters arrived and found an SUV that had driven into the convenience store, heavily damaging the storefront.
Fire crews quickly assessed the scene and located an injured female patron inside the store amongst the rubble, fire officials said.
The female victim was airlifted by a LifeNet medical helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in serious condition.
The vehicle was occupied by a male driver, who was the only person in the car. He was uninjured in the crash and declined medical attention at the scene.
A witness told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that police officers arrested the driver at the scene.
The Woodstock Police Department has not released any information on the incident yet.
