A man suffered life-threatening injuries after he crashed his motorcycle near Woodstock Monday afternoon. It was the third motorcycle crash near Woodstock in just over 24 hours.
The Woodstock Fire-Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 4 p.m. Monday to the 12400 block of Charles Road in unincorporated Woodstock for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Fire crews arrived to find a male victim unconscious in the ditch after crashing his motorcycle in the ditch on the south side of the roadway, a spokesperson for the fire district said.
Life-saving measures were immediately performed on the man, who was suffering from various life-threatening injuries after being thrown from the motorcycle.
A LifeNet medical helicopter was requested and landed on the football field of Northwood Middle School in Woodstock.
The patient was transported by helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical condition.
The man was the only occupant on the motorcycle. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no other injuries were reported.
The roadway was closed in both directions for nearly three hours as the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation.
The Monday afternoon crash marked the third motorcycle crash in the Woodstock area in just over 24 hours.
Around 6 p.m. Sunday, a 28-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after a motorcycle crash in the 8200 block of Mason Hill Road in unincorporated Woodstock.
A spokesperson for the Woodstock Fire-Rescue District said that emergency crews arrived within nine minutes and located a single motorcycle in the ditch.
The sheriff’s office said that the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, drove off the north side of the roadway for unknown reasons.
The driver of the 2019 Harley Davidson motorcycle, a 28-year-old McHenry man, suffered serious injuries and a medical helicopter was requested, the sheriff’s office said.
The helicopter flew the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with life-threatening injuries.
Deputies closed Mason Hill Road in both directions for approximately three hours for a crash investigation.
No other vehicles were involved and no other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriffโs Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit.
Earlier in the day Sunday afternoon, the Woodstock Fire-Rescue District responded to another motorcycle crash a quarter-mile east of the second crash.
A male motorcycle rider was transported to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
