A woman was pinned under her vehicle and suffered serious injuries after her Jeep rolled over multiple times near Marengo Wednesday morning, police said.
The Marengo Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:31 a.m. Wednesday to the 20200 block of Harmony Road in unincorporated Marengo for a vehicle crash.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found a single-vehicle crash involving a 2008 Jeep Wrangler, according to McHenry County Sheriff Sgt. Aimee Knop.
A preliminary investigation shows the vehicle was traveling westbound when it left the roadway for unknown reasons and rolled over, Knop said.
The driver of the Jeep, a 59-year-old Genoa woman, was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Firefighters arrived to find the woman partially pinned underneath the Jeep.
Firefighters extricated the woman and a LifeNet medical helicopter landed at the scene on Harmony Road.
The helicopter flew the victim, who had serious injuries, to Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford for treatment.
No one else was inside the vehicle besides the driver.
It is unknown if speed was a contributing factor, Knop said, adding that alcohol or drugs were not believed to be factors.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit responded to investigate the incident and Harmony Road was closed for over four hours during their investigation.
