A 17-year-old boy was arrested after he allegedly shot a man multiple times with a BB gun and physically attacked him in Harvard, causing the man to be hospitalized, police said.

The Harvard Police Department responded around 11:21 a.m. Saturday to the 0-10 block of North Jefferson Street for a report of a disturbance in the area.

Officers discovered an injured 23-year-old Harvard man, according to Harvard Deputy Police Chief Tyson Bauman.

The man had been battered and shot several times with a BB gun by another person, Bauman said.

The 23-year-old man was transported by paramedics to Mercy Hospital in Harvard with non-life-threatening injuries. He was later discharged from the hospital.

Officers conducted an investigation and later located a 17-year-old Harvard boy and took him into custody around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Prosecutors approved charges of aggravated battery, unlawful use of a weapon, mob action and reckless conduct against the teen, whose name was not released because he is under the age of 18.
