Police are asking for help in identifying a woman who was captured on surveillance video stealing two kids’ dune racer car in front of a school in Libertyville.
The Libertyville Police Department said they are trying to assist two 4-year-old residents in recovering their Fisher-Price Power Wheels Dune Racer.
The Dune Racer was left in front of Butterfield School, 1441 Lake Street, at approximately 3:40 p.m. on May 15 while the two children played at the school’s playground with their babysitter.
Surveillance video from the school shows a woman pull up in a blue 2018 or 2019 Volkswagen Jetta.
The woman walked over to the Dune Racer and carried it to her car where she made multiple unsuccessful attempts to load it into the Volkswagen.
She eventually was able to fit the toy car in her trunk before speeding away with the trunk open and the toy car sticking out from it.
The Libertyville Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the woman so police can return the Dune Racer to the two kids.
Those with information are asked to call the Libertyville Police Department at 847-362-8310 or email pdinvestigations@libertyville.com.
