A man was arrested for allegedly punching a 65-year-old homeless man in the face multiple times, injuring him, at a gas station in McHenry on Saturday.
Kendall B. Stork, 23, of the 1800 block of South Route 31 in McHenry, was charged with aggravated battery in a public place, a Class 3 felony.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded on Saturday evening to the Mobil gas station, located at 4407 West Hi Point Road in unincorporated McHenry.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges that Stork caused bodily harm to a 65-year-old homeless man, who resides at the PADS shelter nearby.
Stork, who also is homeless and resides at the same PADS shelter, punched the victim several times in the face at the gas station, the complaint said.
The victim suffered a laceration above his right eye, bruising on his left eyelid and a small laceration on his upper lip.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Stork around 9 p.m. Saturday and transported him to the McHenry County Jail.
A McHenry County judge ordered Stork held in the jail on a $20,000 bond. He would need to post $2,000 cash in order to be released.
A bond hearing and a preliminary hearing scheduling will take place on Wednesday, court records show.
