A large stretch of Gages Lake Road in Gurnee is scheduled to be closed later this month for multiple culvert replacements, county officials said.
The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) will be closing Gages Lake Road to through traffic from Hunt Club Road to Route 21.
The closure will begin at 6 a.m. June 14 and is scheduled to reopen by the late afternoon on June 18.
The closure is necessary for the scheduled replacement of three culverts.
LCDOT said the exact duration for each culvert closure is uncertain, however, the first closure will be reopened to local traffic before the second location is closed.
Message boards will be used to inform local residents of which closure is in place.
The first road closure is for the replacement of two culverts. Local traffic will have access from Hunt Club Road east to Leonard Drive and from Route 21 west to Colby Road.
The second road closure will be to replace the third culvert. Local traffic will have access from Hunt Club Road east to Colby Road and from Route 21 west to Hickory Haven Drive.
The construction zones will be closed to all traffic. The detour route will be Hunt Club Road to Route 120 and Route 21.
An additional fourth culvert on Gages Lake Road will be replaced west of Hunt Club Road but will not need a full closure. This will require lane closures at times during the day.
