Police say they have recovered a dune racer toy car that was stolen from two kids by a woman as the kids played at a school in Libertyville last month.

The Libertyville Police Department said on Wednesday they have the Fisher-Price Power Wheels Dune Racer in their custody and it will be returned to the owners.

The Dune Racer was left in front of Butterfield School, 1441 Lake Street, at approximately 3:40 p.m. on May 15 while the two 4-year-olds played at the school’s playground with their babysitter.

Surveillance video from the school shows a woman pull up in a blue 2018 or 2019 Volkswagen Jetta.

The woman walked over to the Dune Racer and carried it to her car where she made multiple unsuccessful attempts to load it into the Volkswagen.

She eventually was able to fit the toy car in her trunk before speeding away with the trunk open and the toy car sticking out from it.
