One driver died and another was injured after a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a sedan in Spring Grove Monday morning.
The Spring Grove Fire Protection District and Spring Grove Police Department responded around 11:05 a.m. Monday to 8107 Wilmot Road for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.
Firefighters arrived to find two vehicles, a Pontiac G6 and a Ford pickup truck, in the roadway with heavy damage.
One of the drivers was trapped in their vehicle and firefighters had to extricate them.
A LifeNet medical helicopter landed at Spring Grove Horse Fair Park, 8105 Blivin Street.
Spring Grove Police Chief Michael Niedzwiecki said that the drivers of both vehicles were transported to the hospital.
An ambulance transported one of the drivers to the hospital and the flight crew assisted paramedics in the ambulance. That victim, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The other driver was also transported to a local hospital but their condition was not immediately available.
The Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) is assisting the Spring Grove Police Department in the investigation.
Wilmot Road was closed for approximately five hours Monday while crash investigators conducted their investigation.
