The sheriff’s office said that they arrested a Round Lake man who was dealing drugs after an investigation led to detectives finding the man in possession of a gun, cocaine and pills.
Angel Lopez, 21, of the 1300 block of Coventry Glen Drive in Round Lake, was charged with unlawful possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of MDMA with intent to distribute and three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group conducted a search warrant on Thursday at Lopez’s residence in the 1300 block of Coventry Glen Drive in Round Lake.
The search warrant led to detectives locating nearly 200 grams of cocaine, over 20 MDMA pills, over 10 alprazolam pills, scales and other items used to package drugs.
Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Lt. Christopher Covelli said that detectives also located a gun and ammunition.
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office is in the process of approving additional charges.
“We have zero tolerance for drug traffickers in our community. Our Special Investigations Group relentlessly investigates and arrests those who push these deadly substances to people in Lake County,” Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg said.
Lopez remains held in the Lake County Jail on a $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
