Two ATV riders were seriously injured and flown to the hospital after their ATV struck a tree late Friday evening near Woodstock.

The Woodstock Fire Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 11:48 p.m. Friday to the 10500 block of Thoroughbred Trail in unincorporated Woodstock for an ATV crash.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived to find two victims involved, both suffering from serious head injuries, according to a fire district spokesperson.

Fire crews arrived to find a four-wheeler that had struck a tree.

The two riders were found down in an embankment suffering from various serious injuries.

A LifeNet medical helicopter and Flight For Life medical helicopter, out of Wisconsin, were both called.

The two helicopters landed at a setup landing zone at Woodstock North High School.

Both victims were transported to the landing zone and airlifted by the helicopters to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in serious condition.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash but has not yet released information on the incident.
