A 20-year-old Beach Park man charged with sexually assaulting a juvenile family member multiple times was arrested earlier this month by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team.
Ismael A. Castrejon, 20, of the 38000 block of N Coolidge Avenue in Beach Park, was charged with one count of criminal sexual assault, a Class 1 felony, and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Lake County Children’s Advocacy Center began investigating the allegations in March after the victim came forward.
Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Lt. Christopher Covelli said that detectives learned Castrejon conducted at least two acts of sexual penetration with the victim between August 2019 and March 2020.
Court records show the victim was under the age of 18 and also a family member of Castrejon.
Detectives reviewed the facts and circumstances with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, who approved the felony charges.
Detectives presented the information to a Lake County judge, who authorized an arrest warrant and set bond at $300,000.
Castrejon was arrested without incident by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team on June 3 at the home of an acquaintance in 39000 block of North Sheridan Road in Beach Park, Covelli said.
Castrejon, who would need to post $30,000 cash to be released, remains held in the Lake County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Friday.
