Multiple suspects are in custody after multiple fights with large groups inside Six Flags Great America on Sunday evening, police said.
The Gurnee Police Department responded around 7:00 PM Sunday to Six Flags Great America, 1 Six Flags Parkway in Gurnee, for a report of disturbances.
Gurnee Police Department Public Information Officer Shawn Gaylor said arriving officers located a large group of people actively fighting.
Officers requested multiple police agencies along with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Additional officers remained at the park for the rest of the evening as a precautionary measure.
Detectives are continuing their investigation into what caused the disturbance.
No injuries were reported, and officers took several suspects into custody.
This incident remains under investigation and appears to be an isolated event.
“Six Flags is a great attraction within our community, and families should feel safe when visiting Gurnee and the surrounding amenities,” Gurnee Police Chief Brian Smith said.
“Our partnership with Six Flags allows us to assign Gurnee Police Officers to the park every day as an added service to the community,” Smith said.
“During this incident, it was our priority to secure the area and make it a safe environment for all visitors and employees. I am thankful for the rapid response from our officers and Lake County Deputies to de-escalate the situation and restore calm within the area,” Smith said.
