The coroner’s office has identified a Waukegan man who was found shot and killed in his vehicle after it had crashed into a building in Waukegan Sunday morning.

An autopsy showed that Tyron Patrick, 34, of Waukegan, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek.

The Waukegan Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department responded around 4:45 a.m. Sunday to the 1600 block of 11th Street for a 911 call of shots fired.

Officers arrived and located a vehicle that had crashed into a building, according to Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Joe Florip.

A victim was found slumped over the steering wheel with gunshot wounds, Florip said.

The victim, identified as Patrick, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Waukegan Police Department Criminal Investigations Division (CID) was called to investigate due to the severity.

Florip said the case is open and active and additional details will be released once available.

No one is in custody and no suspect information was available to be released, Florip said.
