The sheriff’s office says two people were shot during a shooting at an apartment complex on the border of Long Grove and Arlington Heights late Tuesday evening.
The Long Grove Fire Department and Cook County Sheriff’s Office responded around 11 p.m. Tuesday to the 2300 block of West Nichols Road in unincorporated Arlington Heights for a report of shots fired.
Cook County Sheriff’s Office Director of Public Relations Kathy Carmody said a victim was found shot in the leg.
Paramedics transported the victim to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in good condition.
Sheriff’s deputies interviewed witnesses who reported there was possibly a second person shot.
Local hospitals were notified and a second victim from the shooting had self-transported themselves to Northwestern Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
That victim had been shot in the hand and was in good condition, Carmody said.
Witnesses told police that the suspects were two males who fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Deputies located a weapon on the ground nearby along with a small amount of marijuana and a shoe, Carmody said.
The investigation is ongoing by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
