A man wanted on an arrest warrant and for battering a person tried fleeing police officers in Highland Park by jumping out a second-story window, authorities said.
The Highland Park Police Department responded around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday to the 900 block of Deerfield Road for a report of a physical dispute.
Andres C. Lopez, 22, jumped out of a second-story window as officers tried to arrest him, according to a police report.
He fled the scene on foot but was later taken into custody, the police report said.
Lopez, of the 900 block of Deerfield Road in Highland Park, was charged with two counts of domestic battery, interfering with the report of domestic violence and resisting arrest.
It is unknown if the domestic battery victim was injured during the incident or not.
Officers also learned the man had an obstructing justice by destroying evidence warrant from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Lopez was transported to bond court and a Lake County judge ordered him held on a $102,000 bond.
Lopez remains held in the jail and is scheduled to appear in court again on Tuesday for a status of attorney hearing.
