Police say a man in his 20s was shot and killed and another man was injured in separate shootings Tuesday evening in Waukegan.
The Waukegan Police Department responded around 8 p.m. Tuesday to the 2100 block of Williamsburg Drive for a report of a shooting.
Officers arrived and found a victim lying in the street with gunshot wounds, according to Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Joe Florip.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The victim is a Waukegan man in his 20s and his name will be released once an autopsy is complete and family notifications have been made, Florip said.
The motive for the shooting is unknown and the Waukegan Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is following up on “many leads.”
The second shooting occurred in the 200 block of Julian Street around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday.
Officers located the victim in an apartment complex parking lot.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he remains in stable condition. The victim is a Waukegan man in his 20s, Florip said.
The Waukegan Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the incident.
The motive for the shooting is unknown but detectives are also following up on “many leads,” Florip said.
Both incidents appear to be unrelated. No one is in custody for either shooting.
