A woman said that she was battered and carjacked as she was pumping gas at a gas station in North Chicago earlier this week.

The woman, who did not want to be publicly named, said the incident occurred at the Citgo gas station, located at 2004 Martin Luther King Jr Drive in North Chicago.

She told Lake and McHenry County Scanner she pulled into the gas station, which is located at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr Drive and Lewis Avenue, Wednesday evening.

While pumping her gas, the woman said a man approached her and pushed her.

The suspect drove off in the woman’s black 2018 Chevrolet Malibu with the gas hose still in the car, causing the hose to break off from the pump.

The woman called 911 and police responded to the scene. They obtained surveillance video showing the suspect exiting the passenger seat of a dark-colored 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, which was driven by a female Black.
