Angel J. Marrero, 18, of Zion.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 17-year-old and 18-year-old after the two allegedly fired off multiple shots from a gun into a wooded area in Beach Park last weekend.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 12:30 a.m. Saturday to the 10400 block of Hendee Avenue in Beach Park for a report of shots fired.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived and located a vehicle parked near a wooded area, according to Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Lt. Christopher Covelli.

Angel J. Marrero, 18, of the 3200 block of Gabriel Avenue in Zion, was sitting in the car with a 17-year-old Elmwood Park boy.

Deputies saw a gun inside the vehicle and a further investigation revealed Marrero bought the gun from a person in Cook County.

The two teens drove to the 10400 block of West Hendee Avenue in Beach Park where they fired several shots into the wooded area near where they were parked.

Deputies took Marrero and the 17-year-old boy, whose identity has not been released due to him being a juvenile, into custody.

Marrero was transported to the Lake County Jail where he was released after posting 10% of his $15,000 bond.

The 17-year-old juvenile was petitioned to the juvenile court system on unspecified charges, Covelli said.
