Two people were hospitalized Monday afternoon after a semi-truck and a pickup truck crashed near Marengo, causing the semi-truck to crash into a pole.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Marengo Fire Rescue Protection District responded around 3:15 p.m. Monday to County Line Road and Kishwaukee Valley Road.
Alex Vucha, a spokesperson for the Marengo Fire Rescue Protection District, said firefighters arrived to find a two-vehicle crash with moderate to heavy damage.
The crash occurred just north of the intersection. Both drivers were evaluated by paramedics.
One of the drivers was transported to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford and the other was transported to Mercyhealth Hospital in Harvard.
The two drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries, Vucha said.
A utility pole was also struck during the crash and it caused power lines to lean over the roadway, creating a hazardous condition, Vucha added.
The Boone County Fire Protection District #2 and Boone County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
The roadway was closed by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office for several hours and reopened by around 7:30 p.m. Monday.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office has not released information on it yet.
