Kamila J. Lis, 27, of Mount Prospect.

Police arrested a Mount Prospect woman who they said was burglarizing multiple vehicles in Cary early Monday morning.

The Cary Police Department responded to a call around 1:25 a.m. Monday in the 100 block Cary Street, which is between Spring Street and High Road.

Cary Deputy Police Chief Scott Naydenoff said a resident called 911 after watching someone enter vehicles and take items from them.

Officers arrived in the area and found a female subject inside a vehicle that did not belong to her.

The offender, later identified as Kamila J. Lis, 27, of the 500 block of Huntington Commons in Mount Prospect, was arrested and transported to the McHenry County Jail in Woodstock.

Lis was charged with six counts of burglary to a motor vehicle, a Class 3 felony, and one count of theft under $500, a Class A misdemeanor.

A criminal complaint filed in court said that Lis burglarized six different vehicles in the area and stole a Samsung Galaxy cellphone from one of the vehicles.

The Cary Police Department said they urge residents to report suspicious activity and provide as much information as possible when calling.

“This incident is an excellent example of the successful apprehension of an offender thanks to timely, accurate information reported by a citizen,” Naydenoff said.

Lis remains held in the jail on a $15,000 bond. She will have to post $1,500 cash in order to be released.

A bond hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
