An Ingleside man working as a delivery driver has been charged for allegedly pointing a gun at another man during a road rage incident in Volo.
Andrew C. Schuch, 21, of the 100 block of Jefferson Street in Ingleside, was indicted by a grand jury on Wednesday, according to court records.
The grand jury charged Schuch with one count of aggravated unlawful use of a loaded weapon.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said they responded around 7 p.m. April 16 to Route 12 and Hartigan Road in Volo for a report of a person with a gun call.
Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Lt. Christopher Covelli said deputies arrived and spoke to the victim, a 57-year-old Ingleside man.
The victim reported that he got into a traffic altercation with someone on the roadway, Covelli said.
The victim pulled into a parking lot after the altercation. The other person, who was identified as Schuch, also pulled into the parking lot.
Schuch exited his vehicle and began yelling at the victim. Schuch allegedly pulled a pistol and pointed it at the victim, Covelli said.
“The victim said he pleaded with Schuch not to shoot,” Covelli said, adding that the victim got back in his car, fled the scene and called 911.
An independent witness corroborated the victim’s account of the situation.
Deputies determined Schuch was working as a delivery driver at a nearby sandwich shop. They determined Schuch picked up another order and left before they arrived.
The deputies were able to track Schuch down. They determined Schuch brought his gun home right after the altercation.
Schuch was arrested and has been free on bond since the incident. An arraignment hearing is scheduled for August 5.
