An Antioch man who suffered life-threatening injuries after a drunk driver slammed into his motorcycle in McHenry on Thursday has died.
The McHenry Police Department and McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded around 2:06 a.m. Thursday to Route 120 and Chapel Hill Road for a vehicle crash with injuries.
McHenry Police Public Affairs Officer Michael Spohn said a gold 2011 Toyota Camry and a gray 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycle were involved in the crash just north of the intersection.
A preliminary investigation determined the Harley Davidson motorcycle was facing southbound on Chapel Hill Road stopped at the intersection in the center lane.
A Toyota Camry traveling southbound on Chapel Hill Road struck the motorcycle from behind, Spohn said.
The driver of the Harley Davidson, a 37-year-old Antioch man, was transported by paramedics to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry with life-threatening injuries.
McHenry County Coroner Michael Rein told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that the 37-year-old man died at the hospital later in the day on Thursday.
An autopsy was conducted on the man, identified as Kenneth Jackson, on Friday. Preliminary results confirm he died from blunt force trauma.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as Steven W. Foulk, 67, of Island Lake, was uninjured in the crash.
Officers arrested Foulk after he was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles.
Foulk was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The McHenry County Regional Crash Assistance Team responded to the scene. The team consists of officers from the McHenry Police Department, Woodstock Police Department, Spring Grove Police Department, Harvard Police Department, Cary Police Department and the Johnsburg Police Department.
The intersection was closed for approximately four and a half hours.
Foulk was transported to the McHenry Police Department where he was processed and later transported to the McHenry County Jail to await a bond hearing.
He was released from jail after posting bond on Friday morning.
