Clarence J. Murdock, 19, of Waukegan.

A Waukegan man wanted for robbing a man at gunpoint and stealing the victim’s money in Waukegan was taken into custody last week, court documents said.

Clarence J. Murdock, 19, of the 800 block of North Butrick Street in Waukegan, was charged with armed robbery, aggravated robbery and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

A criminal complaint filed in Lake County Circuit Court alleges Murdock possessed a gun while committing a robbery on April 21.

Murdock took cash from the victim “by threatening the imminent use of force” with the firearm, the complaint said.

The complaint added that Murdock was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon because he does not have a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card.

The Waukegan Police Department investigated the case and detectives identified Murdock as the suspect.

A Lake County judge signed an arrest warrant for Murdock on July 6 and police arrested him the following week.

Murdock was transported to the Lake County Jail on July 16 where he remains held on a $200,000 bond, meaning he would need to post $20,000 cash in order to be released.

Murdock is scheduled to appear in court again on August 4 for a preliminary hearing.
