Two drivers were hospitalized after a truck pulling a trailer with a horse in it crashed into a sedan in Marengo Township Saturday evening.
The Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 6:16 p.m. to Route 23 and Kishwaukee Valley Road in Marengo Township for a two-vehicle crash with injuries.
Alex Vucha, a spokesperson for the Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts, said crews arrived to find two vehicles that both had moderate damage.
One of the vehicles was a red Ram pickup truck that was pulling a horse trailer, while the second vehicle was a white Mercedes sedan.
The Ram pickup truck went off the road and crashed through a fence on the northeast corner of the intersection as a result of the collision with the Mercedes.
Both drivers were evaluated at the scene and transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley.
Vucha said that both drivers were in good condition after suffering minor injuries.
The trailer was occupied by a single pony that was uninjured in the crash, Vucha said. The pony was transferred to a new trailer and safely transported from the scene.
The cause of the crash was not immediately released and it remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
