A man who traveled with a woman from Arizona to sexually abuse an underage girl in Richmond last year has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
Rhiannon S. Kennedy, 19, and Mark A. Fields, 24, both of Tuscon, Arizona, were arrested on June 7, 2020, by the Richmond Police Department.
Prosecutors said Fields engaged in an online relationship with a minor, who resided in Richmond.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court alleged that Fields and Kennedy both traveled to Illinois to meet the girl and took her to a motel.
Fields allegedly sexually penetrated the victim, who was between 13-15 years old at the time, and Kennedy penetrated the girl with her fingers, the complaint said.
Fields was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, indecent solicitation of a child, indecent solicitation of an adult, solicitation to meet a child and traveling to meet a minor.
Kennedy was charged with traveling to meet a minor and criminal sexual abuse.
In June, Fields entered a blind guilty plea deal with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Fields pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in exchange for his other charges being dismissed, court records show.
McHenry County Judge Robert Wilbrandt sentenced Fields on July 22 to three and a half years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
The case was investigated by members of the Richmond Police Department and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Brian Miller of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
