The coroner’s office has identified a 58-year-old man who was killed after his speedboat went off the Fox River and crashed into a tree in Holiday Hills on Wednesday.
An autopsy showed that Raymond Jezierski, 58, of Fox River Grove, died as a result of blunt trauma to his chest, according to McHenry County Coroner Dr. Michael Rein.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday to the 2400 block of South Riverview Drive in Holiday Hills for a report of a boat crash.
Firefighters and sheriff’s deputies arrived to find a boat on fire on land off of the water, according to McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Byrnes.
The speedboat was occupied by an adult male, later identified as Jezierski, and paramedics pronounced him dead on the scene.
A preliminary investigation shows that the boat left the Fox River for unknown reasons and came to rest in the backyard of the residence, Byrnes said.
Rein said toxicology results are pending. It is unclear what caused Jezierski to drive off the river.
The investigation is being handled by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Office of Law Enforcement and the McHenry County Coronerโs Office.
