Police officials are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing and endangered 82-year-old man who went missing from his home in Gurnee Friday morning.

The Gurnee Police Department said they are searching for Jimmy Hedrich, 82, of Gurnee.

Hedrich has dementia and was last seen walking away from his home near Hunt Club Road and Washington Street around 5:15 a.m. Friday.

He was wearing a maroon sweatshirt, blue jeans and black sandals. Hedrich is 5-foot-8 with a medium build and gray hair.

The police department is asking residents to check the area around where they live for the missing man.

Police said that Hedrich is not very familiar with the Gurnee area, but he enjoys walking through neighborhoods.

“We are asking residents to keep a lookout in their area for anyone matching his description,” the department said.
