The coroner’s office has identified a 35-year-old Libertyville man who was struck and killed by a Metra train on Tuesday in Libertyville.
An autopsy showed that Christopher Wagner, 35, of Libertyville, died from multiple blunt force injuries, according to Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek.
The Libertyville Police Department and Libertyville Fire Department responded around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday to the 1000 block of Wellington Avenue.
Libertyville Police Department Sgt. Jason Kapusinski said officers received a 911 call for a train that struck a pedestrian.
Officers located a male subject, later identified as Wagner, that had been struck by an outbound Metra train northwest of Winchester Road along the railroad tracks behind the Cambridge North subdivision.
Paramedics arrived on the scene and confirmed that Wagner was deceased, Kapusinski said.
The Metra Police Department and Lake County Coroner’s Office were called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
Metra said extensive delays were expected after inbound and outbound train movement was halted north of Libertyville due to train #2103 striking a pedestrian.
Kapusinski said no additional information is available and the investigation will be handled by the Metra Police Department.
