A Waukegan man remains held in jail on a $1 million bond after being charged with sexually assaulting at least two children and a woman, court records show.
An arrest warrant was issued for Arturo Carmona-Diaz, 49, of the 1400 block of Melrose Avenue in Waukegan, on July 14.
Carmona-Diaz was charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, two counts of criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
A criminal complaint filed in Lake County Circuit Court alleges that Carmona-Diaz sexually penetrated a woman on two separate occasions between May 2017 and December 2019.
Carmona-Diaz is also accused of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13 between November and May.
In May, Carmona-Diaz allegedly committed an act of sexual conduct with a second girl under the age of 13, the complaint said.
Carmona-Diaz was arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail on July 15.
Lake County Judge Paul Novak ordered Carmona-Diaz held in the jail on a $1 million bond, meaning he would need to post $100,000 to be released.
Novak also ordered Carmona-Diaz to have no contact with the three victims and their residences, court documents show.
Carmona-Diaz would also be barred from having contact with children under the age of 18 if he was released on bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 18.
