Police and residents say that a suspicious woman took pictures of children playing in yards and pictures of people’s cars in a Woodstock neighborhood last week.

Woodstock Deputy Police Chief Ray Lanz said officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Wicker Street and 300 block of Terry Court in Woodstock around 7 p.m. Thursday.

Residents in the area called 911 after the female driver of a black SUV drove by multiple residences and took photos of people and the homes.

A resident attempted to confront the woman and she fled the scene southbound on Wicker Street.

Lanz said officers were unable to locate the vehicle, which was described as a black Lexus. The driver, who used her cellphone to take the photos, was possibly in her 50s or 60s.

License plate information was not provided to police but a citizen was able to get a picture of the vehicle.

The woman did not make verbal or physical contact with anyone and there is no indication there is any danger to the public, Lanz said.

One resident who lives in the area said on Facebook that the woman had short curly hair. “She was pulling up on homes and taking pictures of children in their yards and pictures of people’s cars,” the resident said.

Police are actively investigating the suspicious incident and are asking the public’s help in identifying the driver and the vehicle.
