State officials say Route 83 in Antioch will be closed in both directions at the railroad crossing for one week starting Monday for emergency repairs.

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that the emergency repairs will be performed on the Canadian National Railroad crossing.

The railroad crossing is located on Route 83 (Main Street) north of North Avenue.

The repairs will require a full closure starting at 9 a.m. Monday weather permitting, according to IDOT.

A posted detour will direct motorists to Route 173, Route 45 and Wilmot Road. The work is expected to be complete by 5 p.m. on August 23.

Motorists should expect delays and allow extra time for trips through this area, IDOT said.

“Drivers are urged to pay close attention to detour signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment,” IDOT said.
