No one is in custody after a teenager was reportedly shot in the head during a Sunday morning shooting in Waukegan, authorities said.

A Waukegan Fire Department ambulance came upon a subject who was down on a sidewalk and bleeding at Lewis Avenue and Lydia Street in Waukegan around 6:40 a.m. Sunday.

The ambulance was responding to an unrelated call at the time. The Waukegan Police Department was called to the scene.

Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Joe Florip said officers discovered the victim, described as an adult teenager, who had been shot.

Fire department radio traffic indicated the teen was shot in the head.

The teen was taken by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Florip said the teen, who resides in Waukegan, suffered serious injuries and remains in serious condition.

The Waukegan Police Department Criminal Investigations Division (CID) was called to investigate, Florip said.

No suspects are in custody and the CID is following up on leads. No additional information on the incident is available for release, Florip added.
