Edgar Bautista, 25, of McHenry.

A McHenry man allegedly kicked two police officers in the chest and groin multiple times as they attempted to arrest the man in McHenry.

Edgar Bautista, 25, of the 5100 block of West Elm Street in McHenry, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting a peace officer and aggravated assault on a peace officer.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Bautista clenched his fists, pulled his pants up and stepped towards a uniformed McHenry police officer in a threatening manner on August 20.

An officer attempted to place Bautista under arrest but the man pulled his arms away from the officers and refused to comply with orders, the complaint said.

Once officers were able to get Bautista into custody, they attempted to place him in the back of a squad car.

Bautista then kicked two officers in the chest and groin “numerous times” as they were putting him in the back of the squad car, the complaint said.

At the time of his arrest, Bautista was on probation for a case where he tried punching a McHenry County sheriff’s deputy and resisted arrest in September.

Bautista remains held in the McHenry County Jail after a judge ordered him held on a $40,000 bond, meaning he would need to post $4,000 cash to be released.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 17.
