A 26-year-old man who crashed his motorcycle while fleeing police at over 100 mph in a Wauconda neighborhood on Thursday has died.

Wauconda Police Department Sgt. Heather Cognac said a Wauconda police officer observed a sport motorcycle with no registration around 4:40 p.m. Thursday.

The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the motorcycle northbound on Brown Street at Slocum Lake Road.

Cognac said the male white driver, later identified as Kenneth M. Farrar, 26, accelerated quickly and continued northbound on Brown Street through a residential neighborhood.

Cognac said Farrar fled at a speed estimated to be over 100 mph. It is unclear why he fled.

Within ten seconds, the officer turned off his emergency lights and sirens and began patrolling the neighborhood where the motorcycle was last seen.
