Round Lake police say they still do not know where the actual shooting occurred that left a 17-year-old boy seriously injured Sunday evening.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Grayslake Fire Protection District responded around 10:35 p.m. Sunday to Behm Lane and Peterson Road in unincorporated Grayslake for a report of a gunshot victim.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Christopher Covelli said a male victim called 911 and told dispatchers he had been shot and needed help.

Sheriff’s deputies found the victim in a car that was stopped in the area near the intersection.

Covelli said he did not know the age of the victim, but a source told Lake and McHenry County Scanner the victim was 17 years old.

Deputies provided medical assistance to the victim until paramedics moved up once the scene was confirmed to be secure, Covelli added.
