One person, a 24-year-old man from North Chicago, was pronounced dead at the scene, Covelli said.

A preliminary investigation shows both of the victims were outside in the alleyway.

An unknown vehicle drove into the alleyway and at least one of the occupants of the vehicle fired multiple shots toward the victims, striking them both, Covelli said.

Major Crime Task Force investigators and evidence technicians continue working with the North Chicago Police Department to investigate the incident.
