Police say that a driver was killed after their pickup truck struck a pole and rolled over into a retention pond Tuesday morning in Huntley.
The Huntley Police Department and Huntley Fire Protection District responded around 5:40 a.m. Tuesday to the area of Charles Sass Parkway west of Route 47.
Huntley Deputy Police Chief Linda Hooten said officers received a report of a single vehicle traffic crash off the roadway.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 GMC pickup truck was travelling westbound on Charles Sass Parkway โ formerly Kreutzer Road โ near the curve west of Route 47.
The GMC left the roadway, struck a light pole and rolled partially into the shallow retention pond, Hooten said.
The sole occupant of the GMC was ejected from the vehicle and found dead near the water, Hooten said.
The driverโs identity is being withheld pending family notification and an autopsy.
The crash remains under investigation by the Huntley Police Department and the McHenry County Coronerโs Office.
