A man, who was out on bond in a sex crimes case, was arrested over the weekend after police say he sexually assaulted a woman at an industrial building near Lake Bluff.
Shawheen Sariri, 25, of the 28900 block of North Herky Drive in unincorporated Lake Bluff, was charged with one count of criminal sexual assault.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 1 a.m. Saturday to the 28900 block of North Herky Drive in unincorporated Lake Bluff.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Christopher Covelli said deputies responded to a call of a sexual offense that had just occurred.
The victim informed sheriff’s deputies that she had been sexually assaulted by Sariri.
The victim was subsequently transported to an area hospital for treatment, Covelli said.
Sheriff’s detectives responded to the scene and continued the investigation.
They determined the assault occurred inside an industrial building in the 28900 block of North Herky Drive in unincorporated Lake Bluff.
Sariri had been living in a converted room inside one of the units of the building, Covelli said.
Deputies arrested Sariri a short time later and the case was reviewed with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Court records show Sariri had been out on bond for a pending 2019 case where he had been charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, criminal sexual assault of a child family member and aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child.
In that case, Lake Forest police said Sariri had sexually assaulted a girl under the age of 13 in Lake Forest in December 2018.
During a bond hearing on Sunday, a judge ordered Sariri held in the Lake County Jail on a $3 million bond. He would need to post $300,000 cash in order to be released.
