A 66-year-old man was critically injured after he crashed his motorcycle into a deer, killing it near Richmond Friday evening.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, McHenry County Conservation District Police Department and Richmond Township Fire Protection District responded around 8:42 p.m. Friday to the 6900 block of Keystone Road in unincorporated Richmond.

McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Byrnes said deputies received a call of a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a deer.

A preliminary investigation shows the motorcycle, driven by a 66-year-old Wonder Lake man, was driving southbound on Keystone Road south of Tryon Grove Road.

The motorcycle crashed into a deer in the roadway and the driver was ejected from the motorcycle, Byrnes said.

A Good Samaritan discovered the crash, called 911 and rendered aid to the driver until paramedics arrived.

A medical helicopter was requested to the scene but did not respond due to weather conditions.
