Police say they have two people in custody after a 59-year-old woman was found in critical condition suffering from multiple stab wounds Monday morning in Zion.
The Zion Police Department and Zion Fire and Rescue Department responded around 1:40 a.m. Monday to the 2900 block of Gabriel Avenue for a report of a stabbing.
Responding officers found a 59-year-old female victim in critical condition suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to Zion Police Department Lt. Christopher Sweeting.
Officers rendered first aid until paramedics arrived.
The woman was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where she was rushed into surgery, Sweeting said.
The victim is now in serious but stable condition at the hospital.
The Zion Police Department requested the assistance of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force to assist with processing the scene.
Investigators detained two people for questioning and are not currently seeking any other suspects, Sweeting said.
Details on what led to the stabbing were not immediately available.
