Maurice Q. Gill-McNeil, 19, of West Columbia, South Carolina.

A South Carolina man was arrested after allegedly shooting a BB gun at a McHenry County sheriff’s deputy’s home and patrol car in Woodstock, officials said.

Maurice Q. Gill-McNeil, 19, of the 400 block of Center Street in West Columbia, South Carolina, was charged with three counts of threatening a public official, two counts of aggravated assault, reckless conduct and attempted criminal damage to government-supported property.

The Woodstock Police Department responded around 12:30 p.m. on October 7 to a residence on Westwood Court in Woodstock for a report of shots fired.

Woodstock Deputy Police Chief Ray Lanz said it was related to responding officers that the firearm used by the suspect appeared to be a BB gun.

Officers learned that the suspect, identified as Gill-McNeil, had fired a BB gun at the residence and the marked police car of the victim, Lanz said.

The victim was an off-duty police officer and his department-issued marked squad car was parked in his driveway, Lanz added.

Court documents show the officer is a McHenry County sheriff’s deputy.

Lanz told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that no specific motive for the incident has been provided or identified at this time.

Gill-McNeil was taken into custody without incident on October 8.

He later posted 10% of his $60,000 bond at the Woodstock Police Department and was released.
