One person sustained a non-gunshot injury after at least a dozen shots were fired in the parking lot of Super Fresh Market in Waukegan.
The Waukegan Police Department was called around 1 p.m. Friday to the Super Fresh Market, 1700 North Lewis Avenue in Waukegan, for a report of a shooting.
Witnesses, who said at least a dozen shots were fired, told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that a red Audi and several other vehicles in the parking lot appeared to have been struck by bullets.
One witness said there were approximately 20 evidence markers placed on the ground over shell casings as police investigated.
Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Joe Florip said no one was shot in the incident.
He said multiple shots were fired but would not confirm exactly how many.
Paramedics with the Waukegan Fire Department were called to treat a man who sustained injuries to his face from glass that shattered during the shooting.
No suspects are in custody, Florip said. It is unclear if there was more than one shooter or not.
The incident remains under active investigation by the Waukegan Police Department.
