A Lakemoor woman wanted for punching a security guard and kicking him in the groin at Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Woodstock was arrested on Friday.

Shawn J. Smith, 48, of the 400 block of Maplewood Drive in Lakemoor, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, a Class 2 felony.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Smith struck a security officer in the chest by punching him on April 16.

The incident happened at Northwestern Medicine Hospital, 3701 Doty Road in Woodstock, according to Woodstock Deputy Police Chief Ray Lanz.

After the woman allegedly punched the officer, she then kicked him in the groin, the complaint said.

Smith bit the officer on his left arm while security guards tried to further restrain her, the complaint added.

An arrest warrant was issued on the same day of the April incident and Smith was taken into custody on Friday.

Smith remains held in the McHenry County Jail on a $15,000 bond. She would need to post $1,500 cash in order to be released.

An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
