Police are searching for two men who robbed a gas station at gunpoint Saturday morning in unincorporated Grayslake.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 8:15 a.m. Saturday to the Mobil gas station, 33199 North Route 45 in unincorporated Grayslake for a report of an armed robbery.
Sheriff’s deputies and detectives responded to the gas station after receiving the 911 call.
A preliminary investigation shows two men, one of which was armed with a gun, entered the gas station.
The man with the firearm pointed it at both the store clerk and a customer, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli.
The two stole the cash register, which contained money, and fled on foot northbound from the gas station, Covelli said.
Sheriff’s deputies recovered evidence near the scene which is being processed by evidence technicians.
The two suspects are described as African American, between the ages of 18-25, thin build, wearing masks, black hooded sweatshirts, black pants and black shoes.
The incident remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
